Sketch & Etch x Mark J Rebennack
Breathe in. Breathe out. This piece finds its origin in Mark J Rebennack's series of "Exhale" drawings, which focus on the relationship between the artist and the process. Each freehand line is conducted for the length of one exhale and mimics the previous line. Beginning with the straightest freehand line possible, the "waves" begin to take shape as minor imperfections or bumps in one line are exaggerated through the following lines. The base is an original painting that has been UV printed on acrylic, with LED neon handmade overlay on top for highlight.
In our Artist Series, Sketch & Etch is integrating Neon with the works of the world's most up-and-coming artists. This collaboration with American artist Mark J Rebennack reminds us of the importance of finding the light in even the simplest of activities, like breathing. What may seem like a bump in the road can lead to unexpected beauty, as long as we remember to breathe.
